Dr. Laura Brugger (she/her) is a researcher in the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis and in the Center for Social Development. Laura’s work centers on the interconnectedness of environmental systems and human wellbeing. Her research investigates socio-environmental issues, particularly the interaction of natural and human systems, and explores pathways to strengthen both ecological resilience and social equity. She has studied spatial disparities in climate-related issues and, most recently, examined how disasters, risk, and resilience relate to voting outcomes. Prior to joining the Brown School faculty, Laura was a Senior Data Analyst in the Social Policy Institute at Washington University and completed her PhD in Public and Social Policy with a concentration in geospatial analysis at Saint Louis University.
