Teradion, Israel, May 14, 2002 - B.O.S. Better On-line Solutions' subsidiary, BOScom, today launched a new series complementing its existing e-Twin@x Controller, a complete hardware and software solution that provides a secure, encrypted connection to the IBM eServer iSeries (AS/400) over the Internet or WAN, and empowers local or remote Twinax networks to support TCP/IP. The new series features an adapter that attaches directly to the e-Twin@x Controller, allowing direct connection of Twinax devices running over CAT5 cabling. For companies using CAT5 (twisted pair) cabling, the new e-TwinSt@r series represents a real value-add for customers, since it replaces an active star hub and allows full utilization of all eight (or 16) RJ45 sockets. Twinax devices working over CAT5 lines are connected directly to the Controller. The new product not only saves the cost of an additional active star hub, but also eliminates the need for power sources and additional space in the communications closet as well as the extra set-up and maintenance time. Twinax also supports greater distance than active star. The new feature comes in two "packages": as an add-on unit to existing e-Twin@x Controllers (new PID 4800 for the 8-port unit and 4801 for the 16-port); or as a built-in component of the controller itself (new PIDs 4808, 4816, 4828, 4856, 4812, supporting 8, 16, 28, 56 and 112 sessions, respectively) - see photo below.![]() Rear panel of new e-TwinSt@r Controller, with RJ45 8-port unit attached.
